Festival season has arrived in Greater Palm Springs and this year may be the biggest and most exciting one yet! The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival takes place over two weekends (April 15-17 and April 22-24), making this Southern California oasis a hot spot all month long. If you are looking for things to do outside of the festivals, where to find the best pool parties, or how to make the most of your time under the sun, keep reading! 

LOOK THE PART

If you’re still searching for the perfect festival outfit or want to add some new accessories, you have some great local options. Elizabeth & Prince has three locations (Palm Springs, Palm Desert and La Quinta), stocking women’s brands like Ulla Johnson, A.L.C. and Mara Hoffman, and the Palm Springs location also carries menswear. In downtown Palm Springs, shop a number of stores and small shops, including Free People, H&M, Johnny Was and Blonde.

Rugs sold my Sokie Modern.Thick As Thieves in Palm Springs also carries festival-friendly clothing and accessories, and at The Shops at Thirteen Forty Five there are multiple stores under one roof, including Soukie Modern (featuring Soukie Festival Bags, as well as a new selection of clothing); tees and denim at Daydreamer; jewelry at Lindy California; menswear and accessories at Towne, and of course you should check out the Palm Springs Style shop while you are there!

On El Paseo in Palm Desert, there are a number of great stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Anthropologie, Lucky Brand and Trina Turk (there is a Palm Springs Trina Turk location as well) .Check out El Paseo Shopping District to find more shops like House of Lolo, Louis Vuitton and so many more.

Art is alive on every corner in Greater Palm Springs. Take a mural tour (virtual or in-person) and explore this arts oasis starting with this mural tour.

No trip to this Southern California oasis is complete without a little cactus hunting. Visit Moorten Botanical Garden in Palm Springs to see the world’s first “cactarium,” filled with rare specimens, or head to The Cactus Mart in Morongo Valley to pick out some plants to bring home. 

PARTY ON

Everyone needs a break from walking from stage tent to stage tent. So, while in between sets of your favorite bands, why not chill out waterside with a tall Arnold Palmer at one of the valley’s best resorts? 2022 Day Club Palm Springs returns April 15-16 & 22-23 as one of the biggest pool party series in Greater Palm Springs during the festival month. Enjoy a day or stay all weekend as you listen to DJ sets perform poolside under the palms.  

Looking for more music? Listen to tunes poolside at Desert Gold at the ACE Hotel April 14-17 & 21-24. Enjoy the music at Ace Hotel Palm Springs from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Space is limited and it is first come, first serve.
