Kaylee Defer on Motherhood
Being a mother has given former Gossip Girl star Kaylee Defer some personal perspective.
“I think an essential part of living a healthy lifestyle is being able to escape, says Defer.
Motherhood has made her even more aware of the need to get some time for herself. I think every mom is guilty of not relaxing and taking time for themselves. Before, I was working thirteen hour days on Gossip Girl in Manhattan, and now my day in L.A. as a mom, is all about 'get up and go’…getting my kid out the door and ready for school. Total chaos! And my husband, Fitz of Fitz and the Tantrums, is on the road all the time.
The Palm Springs area is the ultimate escape, she notes. I think one of the best things about Greater Palm Springs is the chill culture. It’s just the place you go to relax. I think an essential part of living a healthy lifestyle is doing things that make you feel good. And a big part of that is being able to escape and come to places like this.
Noelle Scaggs shares her life on and off the road
When it becomes really demanding on the road, it becomes very draining, says Noelle Scaggs. Having spent much of the past eight years as a member of the top musical group, Fitz and the Tantrums, Scaggs has weathered the travel demands of being on the road.
The saving grace for Noelle? Her hobby has become food and travel. She spends her time in between gigs enjoying local restaurants and writing about them. I have a blog called Adventures with Scaggs and it's mostly food and travel,” says Scaggs. “I basically use my touring schedule to be able to do so. Often we're just going from the venue back to the bus, we're doing the sound check and press. Since you don't get the opportunity to figure out a city, I decided I wanted to remember where I was by discovering restaurants, mainly because I love eating so much.”
One of her very favorite finds recently was Copley's in Greater Palm Springs. According to her blog: The seafood here is insane. When in Greater Palm Springs, visit Copley's and have the scallops, all of the fish and make sure to polish it off with the basil ice cream!
Scaggs is a fan of Greater Palm Springs in general—not just the food. “There’s this very relaxed vibe that you don’t really find in other places,” she says. “Greater Palm Springs is a vacation for us. Some of my favorite things to do in Greater Palm Springs? I like a good time. I like a good martini… I love discovery. I love to hop on my Yelp feed and go to the tenth page and find the spot that nobody’s been to.”
Michael 'Fitz' Fitzpatrick on the Art of Chill
In this day and age, it's more important than ever to try and find those moments to disconnect, says Michael Fitz Fitzpatrick. He would know. The husband of actress Kaylee Defer and father of one is also the front man of the chart-topping musical group, Fitz and the Tantrums, spending much of his time on recording, performing and promoting his music.
My thing is, whenever I can, to put the phone down, turn off the devices. I just like to find a quiet space and calm myself and tune the world out for a second—maybe even do a small moment of meditation and use that energy as a place to find that center.
When he has the time to take a few days to chill out, he and Kaylee go to Greater Palm Springs.
I think one of the amazing things about going there is that it's somewhere you can get to easily, and yet you feel like you've entered a completely different world. Greater Palm Springs is the place that you go to disconnect and reconnect with yourself. You feel like you’ve entered a completely different world.
It's a place where you can come and unwind from the business (of the world). I think every person needs that for their mental well-being on a frequent basis. That's really where I find all my energy now to go forward every day at work.

Defer says, The second I got in the car on my way here I could relax and breathe. I think one of the best things about Greater Palm Springs is the chill culture here.”
