Chef Justin Jenkins is putting Cathedral City on the culinary map with his namesake restaurant, Justin Eat + Drink.
It’s a third act of sorts for Jenkins, who opened Justin Eat + Drink after working in the medical field in the military and studying architecture at College of the Desert.
“There’s a correlation there [between architecture and cooking],” Jenkins says. “Both these disciplines are really about making art out of the fulfillment of a basic human need. In architecture, it’s shelter. For me, it’s about taking food beyond just sustenance.”
After opening his restaurant, Jenkins hasn’t looked back.
“Getting in the kitchen and playing that symphony that is dinner service is really awesome.”
