What’s the best way to start off a meal? (Well, aside from a cocktail!). A delicious appetizer, right? Here’s a guide to some favorites appetizers throughout Greater Palm Springs.
Spicy Tuna Tostada // Sandfish (Palm Springs) and The Venue Sushi Bar & Sake Lounge (Palm Desert)
A favorite at The Venue in Palm Desert is now also available at Chef Engin Onural’s new Palm Springs restaurant, Sandfish. The dish features spicy tuna topped with spicy aioli, unagi sauce, chives, feta cheese and micro greens, served over a crispy wonton.
Deviled Eggs // Heirloom Craft Kitchen (Indio)
A menu highlight at the just-opened Heirloom Craft Kitchen (from Chef Andie Hubka of Cork & Fork) is their Deviled Eggs small plate, topped with applewood bacon, pickled jalapeno and chive oil.
Bacon Wrapped Dates // Essence (Desert Hot Springs)
Local dates are a perfect sweet treat at Essence at Two Bunch Palms, accompanied by gorgonzola, fig chutney and wrapped in bacon.
Flautas // Las Casuelas Nuevas (Rancho Mirage)
These rolled, crispy flour tortillas are lined with cheese and shredded beef or chicken, then topped with cotija cheese, crema fresca, pico de gallo and served with a delicious chipotle sauce. So good!
Avocado Flatbread // Juniper Table (Palm Springs)
Tired of avocado toast? Try the Avocado Flatbread at Juniper Table in the new Kimpton Rowan hotel, made with turmeric, hazelnut, sesame seeds, serrano peppers, and of course lots of fresh avocado.
Crab Cakes // Mélange (La Quinta)
Sit on the patio overlooking Lake La Quinta while you enjoy Mélange’s Maryland-style jumbo lump crab cakes, served with lemon aioli and roasted red pepper sauce.
Cowboy Candy // Justin Eat & Drink (Cathedral City)
Try the Cowboy Candy at Justin once and you’ll be hooked! This simple-yet-addictive dish consists of house made candied jalapenos over cream cheese, served with crostini.
Seafood Tower // Mastro’s (Palm Desert)
This popular steakhouse also excels in the seafood department. Their Seafood Tower is a special treat – you can create your own selection of fresh, chilled shellfish on their signature iced tower.
Lollipop Corn Dogs // Eureka (Indian Wells)
These two-bite “lollipops” are made from polish sausages dipped in a sweet corn batter, served with a spicy porter mustard sauce. Yum!
Shrimp Cocktail // Mr. Lyons (Palm Springs)
Highly memorable shrimp cocktails are rare, but this one is just that. Large, perfectly cooked shrimp are served chilled with a dusting of dill and Old Bay and cocktail sauce on the side.
