While poolside cocktails and hip happy hours are always a vibe in Greater Palm Springs, there's so much more to this Southern California oasis once the sun sets behind the mountains (which is an event in itself). Whether you're chasing cooler temps during the summer or just looking for something different, these after-dark adventures offer a fresh way to experience Greater Palm Springs once the stars come out to play.

Recharge With a Floating Sound Bath | Desert Hot Springs & Rancho Mirage

Good Vibes Sound BathLet the day melt away with a floating sound bath under the stars. Offered by Good Vibes Sound Bath, this unique after-dark experience combines the gentle movement of water, sound healing, and aromatherapy to help you fully relax and reset. As you float across a pool, waves of sound create a deeply meditative and introspective state — a peaceful way to wind down after a busy day. Check their website for upcoming sound baths.

Catch a Show or Hockey Game
Acrisure

Ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway | Palm Springs

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

While the aerial views of Greater Palm Springs are spectacular in the day, the night vistas are just as stunning. Ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway 2.5 miles to the top of Mount San Jacinto for cooler temps and unbeatable twilight views. The last tram car departs at 9:30 p.m., but there's still plenty of time for a bite at Peaks Restaurant before heading back down. Please note that the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will be closed September 8 - October 4 for maintenance.

Golf at The Lights at Indio | Indio

The Lights at Indio_Golf

Golfers who don't want to leave the pool during the day (we don’t blame you) can rejoice knowing they can hit the links at night. The Lights at Indio lets you tee off after sunset on its fully illuminated course — the only one in Greater Palm Springs designed for night play.

Stargaze | Joshua Tree Joshua Tree

Few experiences rival stargazing in Joshua Tree National Park, home to some of the darkest skies in Southern California (and even designated an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association). Whether you're an astronomer, photographer, or nature lover, the feeling of looking up and seeing thousands of stars glittering above while in the midst of such a serene and mystical landscape is definitely a bucket-list experience.

Guided Nighttime Hikes

Escapes_Night HikeDiscover how our desert oasis comes to life after dark on a guided nighttime adventure with Friends of the Desert Mountains. Gaze at the stars through telescopes set up by volunteer astronomers or use a blacklight to search for scorpions and other nocturnal wildlife. Scheduled hikes vary, so be sure to check their calendar for upcoming events.
