Modernism Week 2024 is about to make a splash. This year’s festivities are expected to top last year’s lavish endeavor, which was a terrific affair. Every year seems to get better. So, fling the closet doors wide open, reach for some midcentury modern threads, and prepare to have a memorable time as everybody celebrates The Rat Pack era with vigor. 

This year’s 11-day festival runs February 15-25 and will continue to honor and appreciate everything midcentury modern. Be sure to dip into CAMP (Community and Meeting Place) often and stay abreast of what’s happening, It’s also a good hub for folks to convene, chat, regroup, and share information. Between its tours of iconic homes in more than 30 neighborhoods, numerous architectural walking, biking and bus tours, and revered tours of the historic Annenberg Estate at Sunnylands, don’t rule out a garden tour, classic car show, and any number of insightful talks at the Annenberg Theater or at the Modernism Week Theater at CAMP.

So, follow your mood. Take in a gaggle of parties then spend several days exploring the fascinating midcentury architecture on various tours and planned outings. There’s even a bike tour. Plan ahead, but stay open. You never know when a bit of midcentury modern serendipity will strike.

Modernism Week

This is where it’s at. These home tours are simply the best of the best during Modernism Week. There’s no better way to fully understand the sheer uniqueness of midcentury modernism than to be inside an iconic, architecturally prominent home in Greater Palm Springs. You’ll appreciate the unique design elements on all these home tours and will walk away with a deeper knowledge of the intrepid architects who designed these masterpieces.

Notable home tours include The Lautner Compound Tour, a phenomenal exploration of architect John Lautner’s genius; The Shag House, a Modernism Week Featured Home Tour that notes the artist Shag’s reimagined midcentury modern home, making visitors feel as if they’ve entered a life-size Shag painting; Wexler '54, also a Modernism Week Featured Home Tour, which takes guest through the recently renovated and historically designated Wexler ’54 in the historic Deepwell Estates neighborhood; and the Signature Home Tour, showcasing the bold simplicity of architect Mark W. Modernism Week Bus TourThere’s great variety in the bus tours offered this year, beginning at $90 and up. Check-in is in the Hyatt Palm Springs at CAMP. Bus Tours depart from the Hyatt Hotel's rear entrance on Belardo Road. Ample public parking is available nearby. Dive in.

Premier Double Decker Architectural Tour

This stellar bus tour is one of the most memorable outings around. The two-and-a-half hour open-air bus tour stands out for how much it offers guests all the midcentury modern 411. Lead by knowledgeable guides, it delivers a stellar overview of the most significant midcentury architectural delights of Greater Palm Springs. It’s the perfect way to get your creative toes wet, as the tour spotlights revered midcentury buildings in the area. Guests will experience iconic sites, such as William Krisel’s House of Tomorrow, Richard Neutra’s architectural masterpiece, the Kaufmann Desert House, Donald Wexler & Richard Harrison’s Steel Development Houses, and E. Stewart Williams’ legendary Twin Palms estate, which was the former residence of Frank Sinatra.

Modernism Week Opening Night Party: Disco in the Desert

Sandpiper: A Midcentury Oasis Neighborhood Home Tour and Cocktail Party

Beatles & Beyond: Mod Music and Cocktail Party

FEBRUARY 18 & 23

This mod 1960s cocktail party also includes a live multimedia concert celebrating the music of the Beatles. The Gand Band, voted “Coachella Valley's Best Band," is on hand as are Claudia Ried and Alan Kraemer at the fabulous piano bar.

Swinging Mid Mod Cocktail Party: At The Shag House
