Festival Time

TimeLapse Film Festival
August 4

"Timelapse" has emerged as a significant form of creative expression which is instantly recognizable worldwide. With the broad availability of timelapse-capable cameras and equipment, many 'first-time' filmmakers are creating amazing results. Come out to Joshua Tree on Saturday night and view timelapse films from all around the world. A Grand Prize—Best in Show will be awarded, along with many other awards by category.

Craft Beer Weekend
August 4-5

The Ace Hotel & Swim Club is hosting their seventh annual Craft Beer Weekend to celebrate the microbrewers, hop heads and beer lovers. Sip, sample and soak up the sun from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Craft Beer Festival featuring local breweries and ones from all over the west coast. Join in the fun on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a Beer Brunch featuring six beer-inspired courses paired with a different brew. Festival tickets are $35, Beer Brunch tickets are $55, and Combo passes are $70 (21+).

Splash House
August 10-12

Splash House returns this August and brings a diverse lineup of DJs sure to keep you dancing the day (and night) away. Stay at the Saguaro, Renaissance or Riviera and immerse yourself in this multi-venue pool party festival. Day passes are available starting at $135, as well as After Hours passes for $40 which will grant you admission to the after parties at the Palm Springs Air Museum Friday and Saturday nights.

Palm Springs International Animation Festival & Expo
August 22-26

PSIAF is a global competition in animation and exhibition featuring some of the most talented artists in the world. The fest will screen over 250 award-winning short and feature-length animated films from over 100 countries including Oscar Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Emmy and Grammy winning artists. There will be VR experiences too so if you’ve never tried one before, now’s your chance!

Comic Con Palm Springs
August 24-26

Comic Con returns to the Palm Springs Air Museum bringing even more exhibitions to check out. Gathering together a variety of comic books, animation, art, music and entertainment this fest one you can’t miss out on! See celebrities such as Kevin Sussman of the Big Bang Theory, and Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow of Leave it to Beaver in celebration of their 60th Anniversary Reunion.

Saturdays (Palm Springs) & Sundays (Palm Desert)
Pick up local produce, herbs, honey, nuts, cheese, fresh flowers and plants at the Certified Farmers’ Markets. Palm Springs hosts the market inside the Palm Springs Pavilion every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Palm Desert hosts the market on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. inside the Westfield Mall near World Gym.

Palm Springs Villagefest
Every Thursday evening in downtown Palm Springs, enjoy a diverse array of artists, artisans, entertainers, assorted fruits, vegetables, fresh flowers, jewelry, international cuisine, and don't forget the sweets. The street is closed to traffic and the event goes from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

COD Street Fair
Saturdays & Sundays
College of the Desert hosts the Street Fair every weekend from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. The fair offers over a thousand different items for sale such as home goods, furniture, vintage cars, gourmet food and even live music! Take a complimentary shuttle service from all on-campus parking lots surrounding the fair to the open-air shaded shopping area. Shop while supporting the students and the vendors!

Flicks & Films

CVRep presents “BLANK”
August 3-5

Award-winning, critically acclaimed BLANK explores adoption & identity. Playing 12 characters, adoptee Brian Stanton embarks on a quest for identity ultimately discovering the horrific truth of his birth, an instinctive love for his birth mother, and a grateful dedication to his adoptive family. The show starts at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Summer Film Series presents “The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover”
August 16

For a free, fun, fashion focused evening, stop by the Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum for an artful masterpiece. Clothing designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, this film stars Helen Mirren and Tim Roth in a shocking torrent of sex, food, murder and revenge (NC-17). Seating is available on a first-come first-serve basis and cocktails are available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. before the film begins.

Free Summer Movies: Ferdinand & Sing
August 1, 6, & 8

Join Tristone Palm Desert 10 Cinemas for a full summer of free family flicks. Enjoy free showings of your favorite movies plus a $4 popcorn/drink combo. And each week you'll have a chance to enter to win fun prizes. Ferdinand will be playing on August 1st and Sing will be showing on August 6th and 8th. Pajamas are encouraged, so get comfy and come down to your neighborhood theater to chill.

Arrive Presents Dive-In Movie Series
August 31

This summer Arrive presents a series of free dive-in movies in association with the Palm Springs Film Society. Come out and drift on a raft with a drink in hand while watching this month’s flick, Grease. Arrive early (no pun intended) to grab a spot, the show starts at 7 p.m. (21+).

Friday Flick—"Red Tails”
August 31

Surround yourself with vintage airplanes while watching a classic flick on the 18x10 LED screen at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Arrive at 6 p.m. to grab snacks and a seat before the $5 show starts at 6:45 p.m. Enter through south miles hanger (not the museum entrance).

Get Your Groove On

Brad Paisley
August 2

Put your cowboy hats and boots on because country music superstar Brad Paisley is coming to the oasis this month. He will be performing at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa Rancho Mirage at 8 p.m. on August 2nd and tickets are priced from $160-$200 based on where you’re seated.

Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening
August 3

Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening was formed in 2009 paying tribute to Jason’s father and legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. Jason’s excited to bring the experience to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino this month.

Cheech & Chong
August 4

Grammy Award winning duo Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong are coming toAgua Caliente Casino Resort Spa Rancho Mirage. Celebrating 40 years since their debut movie “Up In Smoke” they are following the success of their reunion tour back in 2008. Balcony seats start at $40 and the show begins at 8 p.m.

The Jacksons
August 25

The Jacksons are bringing their soulful pop-funk to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino this month. One of the biggest and most popular groups in the history of music with chart toppers, they’ll be delivering a night of toe tapping tunes to the Special Events Center. Tickets range from $39-$79 and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Los Tucanes de Tijuana
August 25

Founded in 1987 the group consists of vocalists Mario Quintero Lara, David Servin Reya on percussion, Tomas Herrera on the electric bass, Gustavo Labrada Valenzuela on drums and Alfredo Gonzalez Gonzalez on accordion and supporting with back-up vocals. Performing at Spotlight 29 Casino they’re sure to provide an energetic and fun experience you’ll be dancing the night away to!

Peter Frampton
August 31

Grammy-winning performer Peter Frampton is bringing his latest world tour to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. In 2014 he was inducted in the Musicians Hall of Fame and has made appearances in Simpsons and Family Guy. His latest album is called Acoustic Classics and features stripped down versions of popular numbers like “Baby, I Love Your Way.” Tickets are priced from $29-$69 and the show starts at 8 p.m. in the Special Events Center.

Sundays in Summer Series presents Sydney Weisman in “Who Put The Chutzpah in Broadway”
August 5

Sydney Weisman also known as "Little Miss Broadway" is bringing a celebration of American songwriters to the Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Desert. Accompanied by Barney McClure on piano, she will be performing Gershwins to Porter, Sondheim to Simon and more. The show starts at 2 p.m. and tickets are $15 cash at the door.

Classical at The Rep: Michelle Fiore
August 7

The 2nd Annual CVRep Summer Classical Music Series presents Michelle Fiore, soprano and Kurt Jordan on piano. Michelle won Audience Favorite and 2nd Place at this year’s Open Call at the McCallum Theatre. She sings with Melodiam, Black Tie Opera and in several churches across the Coachella Valley.

Sundays in Summer Series presents Rachel Tyler in “Broads Of Broadway”
August 12

Direct from London's West End "Mamma Mia," Miss Saigon and three years in "Showstoppers" at Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, Rachel Tyler brings a broadway experience to the Arthur Newman Theatre. For $15 come see all your favorite characters and songs they made famous. Wayne Abravanel joins on piano, and the show starts at 2 p.m.

CVRep Tuesday Jazz at the Rep presents Rob Thorsen Trio
August 14

The award-winning Rob Thorsen Trio will be performing a variety of music including classic jazz, Latin music, original compositions and more. Band members Hugo Suarez plays piano and Richard Sellers plays the drums in this show at the Coachella Valley Repertory. The Trio creates a unique sound honoring jazz masters and inspires a fresh approach to music.

CVRep presents Cabaret at The Rep with Brenda Silas Moore in “All You Need Is Love”
August 17-19
LA native Brenda Silas Moore will be bringing her show to CVRep's Cabaret Series this month. She will be singing Friday and Saturday evening at 7 p.m. as well as Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets to the show are $30.

Sundays in Summer Series presents Paul Kay in “We’re Having A Heatwave”
August 19

We’re having a heatwave! Don’t worry, Paul Kay and Alex Danson are here to cool things down. With Paul’s singing and Alex on the keys you’re in for a night of great tunes. The show starts at 2 p.m. at the Arthur Newman Theatre.

Sundays in Summer Series presents Marcia Harp in “Behind The Curtain”

Veteran singer, dancer and Fabulous Palm Springs Follies star Marcia Harp will be performing at The Arthur Newman Theater at 2 p.m. Dante Noto will accompany her on piano as she tell tales from her career with songs she learned along the way.


Golden Boy Boxing
August 17

For $25 come see Andrew “El Chango” Cancio in a 10-round super featherweight fight against Dardan Zenunaj in the main event of Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Cancio has 14 KOs under his belt, as well as victories against former world title challengers. Zenunaj is a former NABO Super Featherweight champion with 11 KOs, so it’s sure to be a great fight.

Steve Martin & Martin Short in “An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Lives”
August 24

Don’t miss out on this special performance celebrating its tenth year with Steve Martin and Martin Short. Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa Rancho Mirage welcomes the duo in presenting a variety of musical sketches and conversations about their iconic careers, encounters and stand-up. Grammy Award-winning bluegrass band The Steep Canyon Rangers will be joining them, as well as renowned jazz pianist Jeff Babko from Jimmy Kimmel Live band. The show starts a 8 p.m. and tickets start at $130.

Free Admission Day at Palm Springs Art Museum

Every Thursday this summer the Palm Springs Art Museum is free! Stop by from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. to check out the exhibitions. Eighty @ Eighty is a current one of their exhibitions in honor of this year being the museum's 80th anniversary. Located just a few blocks away, the Architecture and Design Center is also free on Thursdays! Stop by from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to see some of the city's finest architecture and mid-century flair.

First Wednesday Art Walk
August 1

The Backstreet Art District located in Palm Springs is a community of working studios and galleries providing artistic services. From paintings to ceramics to photography and jewelry the district houses a wide variety of local, regional and national artists. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. experience Art Walk where guests have an opportunity to meet the artists and ask questions.
