Air Service

AIR SERVICE

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) throughput in the United States for October 2021 finished at 79.4% of 2019 levels, 3.3 points above September 2021 and 2.2 points above August. October has been the second highest month of TSA recovery since the pandemic began, behind July at 80.0%. November is trending well, resulting in 79.8% of 2019 levels and with the lifting of the 20-month international travel band on November 8, the airline industry remains optimistic for future business. This confidence is being confirmed by airlines such as Delta, which has seen a 450% increase in international point-of-sale bookings over the past 30-days.

PSP had a record summer in terms of passenger traffic and seat capacity. Combined passenger traffic for June to September was 256,650 onboards (one way) which was the highest figures PSP has ever seen in this time frame. TSA throughput at PSP significantly outpaced the national average in every month since April 2021 while data for October 2021 finished at 123% of 2019 levels.

Since our last board report, PSP will welcome three new air carriers: Aha!, Swoop and Flair Airlines. Aha! will begin nonstop service to Reno, Nevada (RNO) three times per week on January 3, 2022. Swoop will fly nonstop from Edmonton (YEG) two times a week starting December 16, 2021. Flair Airlines will return to PSP with service to three destinations: Edmonton (YEG), Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR). Edmonton and Vancouver will start on December 17, 2021, and Toronto will start on December 18, 2021. Flair last served PSP in 2019.

In addition to the two new airlines, PSP will see 15 new routes this winter season. Brand-new destinations like Austin (AUS), Chicago Midway (MDW), Dallas Love Field (DAL), Des Moines (DSM), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Indianapolis (IND), Nashville (BNA), Provo (PVU), Reno (RNO), Sacramento (SMF) and San Jose (SJC), as well as new airlines to previously served destinations like Edmonton (YEG), Portland (PDX), Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR).

You can find information about PSP marketing, airlines, route information and other air service updates on our Partner Air Service page. The page is updated weekly.
