Dead Indian and Carrizo canyons are only open from October-December and provide wonderful opportunities to see Bighorn Sheep and many other desert critters. Hike rating is easy to moderate, approximately 2-3 miles round trip. Elevation gain approximately 100-500 feet.
From January-March, take a guided hike through the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. See excellent views of the Coachella Valley and unique desert plants and animals including a chance at bighorn sheep and desert tortoises. The hike will be on either the Randall Henderson Trail or Art Smith Trail, depending on the group, ranging from 2-4 miles long and 300-800 feet in elevation.
There will not be a hike on March 1, 2018.
Bring 2 liters of water, snacks, closed-toed shoes, hat, sunscreen and camera. Minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for registration and signing waiver forms. Registration begins at 8:45 AM.
