A magnet for those who crave fun and games, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio is home to a 100,000-square-foot casino floor with 2,000 slots/video poker machines, 40 table games, Triple Crown Room off track betting facility and 600-seat bingo area.
All that action is literally framed at the doorstep of the destination resort’s Fantasy Lanes Bowling Center, where tournament organizers can get the competition rolling on 24 state-of-the-art synthetic lanes with AMF scoring.
According to Manager Joe Vuica, the center hosts local leagues and United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Citrus Belt tournaments that draw strike-driven athletes from Southern California’s Riverside County. “We’ve also hosted pro bowling exhibitions in the past, and have leagues from San Diego and Los Angeles that hold their ‘sweeper’ here instead of Laughlin or Las Vegas,” he says.
Vuica adds that since each lane can accommodate up to eight bowlers, event organizers have the flexibility of holding larger competitions that are more social in nature or smaller contests that focus on more excessive bowling. “We also have those who come for a convention where one day is for golf and the other for bowling,” Vuica says.
While the bowling center’s lounge seats 30, capacity is never an issue since the Fantasy Springs’ “sleek and sexy” LIT Lounge is located right outside the center’s door in the adjacent casino. Other bells and whistles that make bowling events more versatile include 250 guest rooms, multiple dining venues, a fitness center, swimming pool and 3,500-seat Special Events Center.
The latter accommodates everything from concerts and live theater to trade shows and conventions. A-List entertainment has included such headliners as Boz Skaggs, Chris Alice Cooper, Robin Thicke, Goo Goo Dolls and Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band.
