You are one of my favorite destinations... it just works because you are one of the best DMOs I have ever worked with... GLOBALLY! Over a 25 year career. Your team is 'best of breed' and the marketing, the structure of your value adds, and incentives for groups is slick and always provides the client with what the program needs to book the business. Your destinations' members and suppliers truly work together to sell Palm Springs! They all play in your beautiful sand box amazingly!

To Whom it May Concern:
I am happy to be able to strongly recommend Palm Springs as a conference destination for teachers. I have been coming to Palm Springs every year since I started teaching 15 years ago. I have been joined by over 5,000 teachers in attending the California Math Council South Section (CMC-S) Annual Mathematics Conference held in Palm Springs for over 35 years. It is very common to find many of our math friends walking on Palm Canyon Drive doing some shopping and enjoying the farmers market on Thursday evening. On Friday evening teachers can be found at any of the restaurants in the city, sometimes you run into groups of teachers in the surrounding cities or in the local casinos. Teachers will travel with their families and enjoy the Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley sites and activities. It is a lovely community and conference attendees often return throughout the year but all look forward to the next conference.

I just got back from a FAM in Palm Springs and am excited to share a testimonial:

  • Not everyone there has blue hair (I can say this b/c in some circles, I'm a senior)
  • The landscape does have colors other than brown and dark brown (this is an oasis!)
  • There are actually many upscale group-friendly hotels (the last time I visited, I think here were 4 somewhat major hotels and lots of motor inns)
  • This is nothing like Phoenix or Las Vegas (absolutely no comparison…no traffic, beautiful vistas and plenty to do year-round)
  • I can get to Palm Springs very easily…I took a non-stop from Seattle…

I share the above with you because I had no idea what this fantastic destination offers…and I used to live only 1.5 hours from there!

Visit GPS worked with me to customize my FAM – we saw only the properties I desired seeing, so it was a great use of my time. I had a dedicated Visit GPS representative with me each day who gave me the lay of the land, history, goings-on and answered questions between properties. Each morning and evening we reconnected with others on the FAM so we could network and take in offsite venues or events (for you tennis lovers, we went to the BNP Paribas one evening).

Palm Springs has so much to offer, I strongly urge you to give them a serious look the next time you're looking for a fresh destination. Some of the hotels I looked at include the iconic Riviera Palm Springs, JW Marriott Desert Springs, Hyatt Regency Indian Wells, La Quinta Resort (a Waldorf-Astoria property)…I saw 8 in all and wish I'd had an extra couple of days to see more. They have everything from quaint inns, to a former artist colony from the 30's (awesome venue for small groups or catered-out event), to beautiful midsized properties, to all of our major brand partners…amazing resorts and world-class spas.

The Convention Center is beautiful and located less than 2 miles from the airport…and they're surrounded by multiple hotels, attached to Renaissance Palm Springs…I am in the process of suggesting this destination to some of my clients for consideration.

And, they're less than 2.5 hours from many tourist attractions, e.g., Disneyland, San Diego, etc. There's always something going on in the Palm Springs area – festivals, sporting events, weekly farmers' markets, concerts, gaming.

I could go on and on but I'll keep to the highlights...

Over the last 10 years I have planned many meetings in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert corridor. Although I run a company that researches hotels and destinations for my clients I find that Visit Greater Palm Springs is a one stop resource for me to obtain additional contacts for activities, restaurants and hotels. Their organization is extremely professional and always has excellent turnaround time with RFPs.

Visit Greater Palm Springs has been an incredible resource for every meeting I've held in the Palm Springs area. They have been able to suggest hotels and other resources that are a perfect match for each and every client need. And they have continued to be my go to resource even after the programs were booked, whether helping me strategize about ways to boost attendance or helping me navigate tricky politics that sometimes arise. Finally, they exemplify the spirit of hospitality and are a delight to work with.
