RECENT RESORT AND HOTEL RENOVATIONS

Soak in total relaxation at the famed Two Bunch Palms resort, which recently completed a $2 million renovation, including remodeled suites, a new guest arrival experience and the addition of a tea room and wine bar.

• Top Attendee Fave: The resort also revamped its on-site wellness program, which features a variety of workshops and classes perfect for groups. Treat attendees to a yoga session, hot mineral spring soak or sound bowl healing.

Designed by modernist architect Albert Frey, the historic Movie Colony Hotel has recently undergone an extensive renovation, with the original townhouses transformed into duplex suites and splashes of color, warm wood accents and textile accents incorporated throughout.

JW 2019 new suite
Updated room at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa 

The luxurious JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa is completing more than $50 million in renovations, including a completely transformed lobby and stylish new furnishings, carpets and wallpaper in all guest rooms. Freshly redesigned meeting and event rooms reflect the desert landscape and the property’s midcentury roots (Frank Sinatra made his last public performance in one of their ballrooms).

Meeting attendees will find an elevated and re-energized space at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa thanks to $24 million in renovations, from a refreshed lobby and bar and more modernized guest rooms to a fitness center complete with Peloton bikes and state-of-the-art exercise equipment.

The Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa is making a splash with $20 million in upgrades, including the addition of two dueling 30-foot water slides and a lazy river, as well as enhancements to the lobby, restaurants and meeting spaces.

Situated along downtown’s main thoroughfare with stunning views of the mountains, the Hyatt Palm Springs plans to reveal a large-scale renovation next year, with upgrades to all guest rooms, as well as public and meeting spaces.

La Quinta Resort & Club, one of the first hotel properties built-in Greater Palm Springs, plans on adding more meeting rooms to its already impressive 190,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.

Meet Over Merlot
Groups can now book an event (blending or pairing seminar, anyone?) at V Wine Lounge in Palm Springs, a new 1950s-inspired boutique wine bar that features up to 2,900 square feet of meeting space. For more information, call 760-668-9665.

NEW HOTELS IN 2019

Located conveniently off Highway 111 in Palm Desert near several shopping and dining outlets, as well as hiking trails, Springhill Suites recently opened its doors and features two meeting/event spaces.

Best Western Plus, the first Cathedral City hotel planned north of Interstate 10, will provide convenient access to and from the freeway. Several adjacent food options and mixed-use projects are also in the works.

The city of Coachella’s first resort, Hotel Indigo, is already accepting reservations and will feature 300 casita-style accommodations, a restaurant, a 10,000-square-foot pool, a spa and a conference center, as well as an 11-acre outdoor concert and exhibition venue.

The four-story Residence Inn by Marriott will open near the intersection of Highway 111 and Dune Palms Road near shopping, dining and a state-of-the-art movie theater.

It’s all California dreamin’ at The Dream Hotel, located adjacent to the Convention Center in Palm Springs. The property will feature multiple restaurants and bars and more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

The new $85 million Delano Hotel by hospitality group SBE will feature its signature 24-hour SKYBAR and an outpost of the famed Katsuya restaurant.

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians has announced plans to build a 300,000-square-foot entertainment and sports arena on tribal land in downtown Palm Springs, approximately two blocks from the Palm Springs Convention Center and several hotels. In addition to hosting premier concerts, live events and a potential minor league hockey team, the 10,000-seat state-of-the-art facility will be available for conventions, large meetings and international events, as well as award shows and exhibitions.
