While poolside cocktails and hip happy hours are always a vibe in Greater Palm Springs, there's so much more to this Southern California oasis once the sun sets behind the mountains (which is an event in itself). Whether you're chasing cooler temps during the summer or just looking for something different, these after-dark adventures offer a fresh way to experience Greater Palm Springs once the stars come out to play.
Greater Palm Springs is home to a dynamic entertainment scene, with venues like Acrisure Arena and the McCallum Theater hosting world-class concerts, sporting events, and other performances. From Broadway productions and ballet to comedy shows and live music, there's always something on the calendar. Whether you're looking for a night of laughter, culture, or high-energy entertainment, these venues offer unforgettable experiences for every audience.
While the aerial views of Greater Palm Springs are spectacular in the day, the night vistas are just as stunning. Ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway 2.5 miles to the top of Mount San Jacinto for cooler temps and unbeatable twilight views. The last tram car departs at 9:30 p.m., but there's still plenty of time for a bite at Peaks Restaurant before heading back down. Please note that the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will be closed September 8 - October 4 for maintenance.
Golfers who don't want to leave the pool during the day (we don’t blame you) can rejoice knowing they can hit the links at night. The Lights at Indio lets you tee off after sunset on its fully illuminated course — the only one in Greater Palm Springs designed for night play.
Few experiences rival stargazing in Joshua Tree National Park, home to some of the darkest skies in Southern California (and even designated an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association). Whether you're an astronomer, photographer, or nature lover, the feeling of looking up and seeing thousands of stars glittering above while in the midst of such a serene and mystical landscape is definitely a bucket-list experience.
Dive-in Movies - Some hotel properties, including La Quinta Resort & Club and Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas, host swim-up movie screenings for guests (a summer favorite for little ones and adults alike).
