Your Guide to DSRT Surf Palm Desert

Get ready to catch a wave in an unexpected place. DSRT Surf adds an exciting new surf experience to Palm Desert—nearly 100 miles from the nearest ocean. Here’s your guide to what to expect when visiting this new Greater Palm Springs attraction.

What is DSRT Surf?

DSRT Surf is a new surf experience tucked between the fairways of Desert Willow Golf Resort and framed by Greater Palm Springs’ breathtaking palm tree and mountain landscape. At its heart is a 5.5-acre Wavegarden Cove surf lagoon capable of producing up to 1,000 waves per hour—the largest in North America.

Designed to make surfing more approachable, DSRT Surf replaces unpredictable ocean conditions and crowded lineups with consistent, controlled waves. Its 52-module system can create more than 60 distinct wave patterns, from slower waves for first timers to steeper, performance-driven options for advanced surfers. This range allows guests of different skill levels to enjoy the water without competing for the same wave.

Whether you’re learning to stand up for the first time, planning an unforgettable family outing, or chasing the perfect ride, the experience is designed to welcome everyone. With reliable conditions and waves tailored to every level, surfing feels less intimidating—and a lot more fun. Get a preview of the action before your visit with DSRT Surf’s live camera on Surfline, offering a real-time look at the waves.

Located about 20 minutes from Palm Springs International Airport and within a two-hour drive of much of Southern California, DSRT Surf joins Palm Springs Surf Club in establishing Greater Palm Springs as an unexpected hub for inland surfing.

DSRT Surf's Sustainability Story

DSRT Surf’s sustainability efforts put water conservation at the forefront of its desert surfing experience. By converting existing golf course land into drought-tolerant desert landscaping, the project aims to save 34.8 million gallons of water annually, more than the surf lagoon’s estimated annual use of 23.8 million gallons. That adds up to a projected net savings of 11 million gallons each year. The strategy also includes returning water from the lagoon’s annual drainage and daily operations to the aquifer through a dry well, helping support a more water-conscious approach to recreation in the desert.
