The Players
With the PGA Tour’s annual season-opening Sentry tournament on Maui having been canceled for 2026, the American Express is now the second event on the PGA Tour's seasonal schedule.
The schedule change is worthy of note for a pair of reasons: The American Express may well reap the benefits of a heightened field for 2026, and . . . the announcement of said field may well take a bit longer to formalize.
While initial player announcement of major champions Brian Harman and Wyndham Clark, along with defending American Express champion Sepp Straka, SoCal native Rickie Fowler and Tour upstart Akshay Bhatia are compelling, and fans should anticipate more (and, yes, bigger news) as the tournament grows near.
