TENNIS IN INDIAN WELLS
It's easy for tennis players and fans alike to fall in "love' with Indian Wells. From spectacular mountain scenery and 350-plus days of sunshine a year to some of the finest tennis facilities in the world, the city offers the perfect backdrop for those looking to practice their serve, get in a few games, or watch the pros play. Indian Wells reportedly featured one of the first tennis courts in Greater Palm Springs and has hosted tennis tournaments since the 1950s. This rich history lives on today, with the city hosting the BNP Paribas Open, the largest combined men's and women's tennis tournament in the world. Known as the sport's "fifth Grand Slam", the event draws hundreds of thousands of spectators each spring to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden - home to the world's second-largest outdoor tennis stadium - where the likes of Federer, Djokovic and Williams have competed. The state-of-the-art facility is also open to the public and offers a variety of programs, lessons and clinics throughout the year.
