(Greater Palm Springs, CA) – January 6, 2017 – Stars shine the brightest in Greater Palm Springs, from astounding stargazing tours and programs to A-List star-studded events.

Stargazing

Granting some of the most striking panoramic views of Greater Palm Springs, as well as the galaxy, is The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage.  The resort hosts complimentary stargazing sessions every Saturday evening, using a state-of-the-art computerized telescope.

Joshua Tree National Park, considered one of the best places for stargazing in the country, is situated nearly 5,000 feet above sea level—nearly touching the heavens.  Just outside the park’s entrance is Sky’s the Limit, an observatory and nature center that offers public “observing sessions” almost every Saturday night.

Go on a stargazing tour for a thrilling constellation adventure. The San Andreas Fault Nightwatch Jeep Tour, offered by Desert Adventures Red Jeep Tours and Eco Events, takes adventurers to a private 800+ acre preserve on the San Andreas Fault for a one-of-a-kind journey through the night sky. The Sky Watcher Stargazing Tour is the only company in the world dedicated to providing tales of mythology, legends and folklore of the Native American Indians.

In summer 2017, the new Rancho Mirage Observatory will open for visitors to explore the universe through a research-quality telescope with a 22½-foot diameter, rotating dome.

Celebrity Sightings

Since the 1920s, Greater Palm Springs has been Hollywood's desert playground for celebrities to relax and escape in style. A new generation of Hollywood A-listers has rediscovered the lure of this oasis, especially during the Palm Springs International Film Festival, founded by former mayor Sonny Bono that kicks off the celebrity-sighting season each year with a red carpet Gala. The Gala may be over for 2017, but the celebrity sighting is just beginning.

Upcoming golf tournaments, including the CareerBuilder Challenge and the ANA Inspiration, offer golf enthusiasts the ultimate thrill to play in Pro-Am tournaments alongside celebrities.  To add to the excitement, the popular indie-pop band, Fitz and the Tantrums, will headline the CareerBuilder Challenge’s first concert on January 21 on the Stadium Course at PGA WEST

Landmark performances in 2017 include Aerosmith legend Steven Tyler, coming to The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa, marking his inaugural solo appearance on January 21 in Greater Palm Springs.  The casino has also booked rock idol, Sting, for his first performance in the oasis on February 11.

Plácido Domingo will be headlining the Palm Springs Life Festival, an inspiring and unparalleled line-up of events February 16 – March 27. The festival will feature internationally celebrated musicians, chefs, vintners, fashion designers and architectural designers, among them BRAVO’s Top Chef Judge Gail Simmons, Project Runway Designer Michael Costello, and esteemed Palm Springs architect Lance O’Donnell.

The BNP Paribas Open, March 6-19, attracts celebrities such as Gwen Stefani and Ben Stiller who flock to Indian Wells to watch the world's top tennis players.  This year, the inaugural Taste of Tennis Indian Wells will take place with an exclusive opportunity to mingle with your favorite tennis stars such as Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

In April 2017, one of the world’s largest gathering of celebrities shines in Greater Palm Springs once again.  Stars congregate in Indio to attend and perform at the internationally acclaimed Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival at the Empire Polo Club.  This year’s lineup includes Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Radiohead.  Country Music star Shania Twain is set to make her Stagecoach debut along with Dierks Bentley, Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, and even Cyndi Lauper for an all-star lineup.
