The Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau Celebrates the Season with a Destination-Themed Holiday Song
The Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), the official tourism marketing agency for the nine-city destination of Greater Palm Springs, is ringing in the holiday season with its own destination-themed rendition of “Jingle Bells.”
The original “Jingle Bells,” composed in the mid-19th century, is one of the most popular holiday songs of all time. Even Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, both former Greater Palm Springs residents, released their own arrangements.
This is the third song created for the destination by the Greater Palm Springs CVB. In 2016, it released “Chasin’ My Troubles Away,” written by songwriters Tim Nichols and Chris Stevens. Proceeds of that song benefited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Most recently, it released “Find Your Own Oasis,” created in collaboration with L.A.-based music group Echoer, to benefit the Greater Palm Springs Tourism Foundation. Both songs are available in the iTunes store.
“Music has a way of uniting people,” says Chief Creative Officer Jeff Miraglia. “This holiday, we wanted to craft a message that is not only familiar but also captures the spirit of the holiday by celebrating the unique attributes of each of our nine cities.”
The full-length song runs approximately 2 minutes and features a refrain for each city—Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio and Coachella—as well as opening and closing verses that speak to the destination’s message of “nine cities, one oasis.” The CVB worked with Desert Carolers, a local chorale group, to record the song.
Lyrics:
Dashing through the glow
In a chic cabriolet
Through nine cities we go
Mountain views all the way
Front doors colored bright
Pools a soothing sight
What fun it is to play and chill
In our oasis day or night.
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun to play and sing
Where the sun shines every day, hey!
{Palm Springs verse}
Jingle bells, mid-mod hotels
Sammy, Frank and Dean
Oh what fun to sing the songs
From Sinatra and the King
{Desert Hot Springs verse}
Jingle bells, hot water wells
Spa pass for the day
Oh how nice it is to soak
And melt all stress away, hey!
{Cathedral City verse}
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Food trucks, films and plays
Oh what fun to see balloons
Soar up, up and away.
{Rancho Mirage verse}
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Sunnylands and stars
Oh what fun it is to stay
And enjoy luxurious spas.
{Palm Desert verse}
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Fashion, food and wine
Oh what fun it is to see
Giraffes and porcupines, hey!
{Indian Wells verse}
Jingle bells, tennis thrills
Pickleball all the way
Oh what fun to golf at night
And make birdies every day.
{La Quinta verse}
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Fairways lush and green
Oh what fun it is to play
or paint an artsy scene.
{Coachella verse}
Jingle bells, festival bells
Boots and flower crowns
Oh what fun it is to dance
Or play polo on the lawn.
{Indio verse}
Jingle bells, artists tell
Stories on the wall
Oh how nice it is to grow
Dates and grapes and all, hey!
From windmills in the west
To date farms in the east
Nine cities join as one
Our spirit can’t be beat.
The holidays are here
So let’s spread some cheer
“Warm” wishes and chill times to all
This season and New Year!
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to live
Where palm trees proudly sway, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Good tidings and goodwill!
Oh what fun it is to spread
The joy, peace, love and chill.
