(Rancho Mirage, CA) Visit Greater Palm Springs launched the Oasis of Art campaign today, drawing attention to the many art-and-cultural treasures available in the destination. The campaign will include an Art & Sol artist video series, highlighting local artists and what inspires them, and the relaunch of the artsGPS app, a free resource to find public art, events, things to do, and places to stay in Greater Palm Springs.
Greater Palm Springs is alive with art — in all its forms. From world-famous concerts and festivals to modern museums and public art installations to theater productions and live entertainment, as well as an assemblage of midcentury modern architecture and design, the destination’s vibrant arts-and-culture scene buzzes with unique experiences.

The Art & Sol video series features interviews with a diverse cast of local artists, including illustrators, muralists, painters, fashion designers, sculptors, and a drag queen. The works they create and the lives they live are a testament to the power of art, community, creativity, and expression. The series includes segments on Josh Agle, also known as Shag, a Palm Springs-based painter, designer, and illustrator whose work has become nearly synonymous with the destination, and Aneka Brown, a local who launched her own apparel line featuring bold prints and colors that celebrate her African heritage while feeling right at home with the modernist style sensibilities of Palm Springs.
The artsGPS app, featuring more than 100 outdoor public art installations throughout Greater Palm Springs, is now available on both Android and Apple iOS platforms. Use the digital map to explore works of art city-by-city and take a self-guided tour of our oasis of murals, sculpture, art galleries, and more. The artsGPS app also includes helpful information for travelers on events, things to do, and places to stay. The “Events” section lists happenings across Greater Palm Springs in a calendar format. “Things to Do” includes dining, attractions and shopping. “Places to Stay” allows users to browse accommodations by category.
The Oasis of Art campaign would not be complete without taking a step back in time to explore the destination’s treasure trove of midcentury modern architecture and design. Greater Palm Springs is home to one of the largest concentrations of this unique architectural style, with some of the most iconic buildings designed by renowned architects like Albert Frey, Donald Wexler, John Lautner and E. Stewart Williams. Visitors can experience midcentury modernism through guided architecture tours, at the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center, or during Modernism Week, an 11-day celebration featuring home tours, informative talks and nightly parties.
