The CareerBuilder Challenge – January 18-22, 2017
This year Phil Mickelson replaces Bill Clinton as ambassador for the CareerBuilder Challenge. A Southern California native, 42-time PGA TOUR winner and five-time major champion, Mickelson will promote the tournament and participate in various functions during tournament week. The 2017 tournament will showcase major renovations at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Wolfgang Puck’s Spago will be added featuring a 100-seat restaurant overlooking the court in Stadium 1. Twenty more permanent concessions and restaurants will be added to the Stadium ranging from BS Taqueria from Esquire’s 2015 Chef of the Year Ray Garcia, and Dave’s Doghouse, from Michelin-starred chef Josiah Citrin to Cassell’s, a reinvented classic hamburger stand that has been an LA phenomenon since 1948 and Melissa’s Produce, the Los Angeles-based fresh vegetable-focused offering. The Jansen Cup: United Kingdom & United States – May 22-24, 2017
Ninety years after a competition for the Ryder Cup in golf was played for the very first time, the United Kingdom and United States will commence a new event also staged on a golf course – FootGolf’s first Jansen Cup. The Saguaro, the colorful Palm Springs landmark hotel located on East Palm Canyon Drive, has begun renovations to its event spaces that will include the addition of an 1,175 square foot terrace overlooking the hotel’s lush courtyard, an exposed and higher ceiling in its Sago Ballroom, and a neutral and warm color palette with new floor coverings in all event areas. Hotel Paseo
Part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, the Hotel Paseo is expected to open October 2017. The four-star, 150-room hotel is the first of its kind in the El Paseo Shopping District in Palm Desert. The property will feature a pool, spa, dining and ballroom.
Andaz Palm Springs

Tova Hotel and Beach Club
The former Garden Vista Hotel in downtown Palm Springs will become the Tova Hotel and Beach Club, complete with a new 200-seat restaurant, fitness club, and spa. All 124 guest rooms will be gutted and renovated, and new construction will involve building a 3,700-square-foot building to house the fitness room, restrooms and storage. And another 15,200-square-foot building will house the restaurant.
The Monroe Palm Springs
The Monroe Hotel is set to launch a full-scale renovation of its pool and spa area. The 62-room economy class hotel will be re-branded as part of the Infusion Beach & Hotel line in early spring 2017. The Monroe Hotel was formerly an America’s Best Value Inn property, built in 1985. Three years ago it underwent a $600,000 renovation and became The Monroe. Staybridge Suites Cathedral City Golf Resort
Staybridge Suites Hotel, a new 200-room extended stay hotel overlooking Cimarron Golf Course in Cathedral City is scheduled to open in early 2017. The 133,000-square-foot hotel, which caters to extended-stay travelers, will offer studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites. www.staybridge.com
SilverRock Resort
The $420 million project proposed in the City of La Quinta, the SilverRock Resort will include a five-star, 140-room luxury hotel and spa, as well as a four-star, 200-room lifestyle hotel. Also in the works is a 150,000-square-foot resort village with residential units and up to 40,000 square feet of retail space and recreation areas. The project also includes a mini riverfront promenade; a conference center with ballroom and meeting space; recreation areas such as water facilities, community gardens, luxury camping and trails; a permanent clubhouse area with large patios; and an event lawn space. Virgin Hotels Palm Springs
In downtown Palm Springs, the new Virgin Hotels Palm Springs will feature 150-rooms and suites, multiple dining and drinking outlets, including The Commons Club, meetings spaces and a rooftop terrace and pool overlooking the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains. Orchid Tree Resort & Spa
The former Community Church of Palm Springs is on a path that could take it to a luxury 52-room boutique resort & spa. The 3.1-acre site, will become a five-story resort hotel and spa complex. Gwynne Pugh of Urban Studio in Santa Monica is the architect and construction is anticipated to begin early 2017.
750 Lofts Hotel

Vision Caliente – Spa Hotel
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribal Council announced it will partner with JCJ Architecture of San Diego to create a master plan for 22 acres in downtown Palm Springs at Tahquitz Canyon Way and Indian Canyon Drive. The property was once the home of Spa Hotel, which the Tribe closed in July 2014, and is also anchored by the Tribe's culturally significant ancient Hot Mineral Spring. The site has operated since the late 1800s, providing access to the healing water for hundreds of thousands of people for more than 100 years. Acqua California Bistro
Acqua California Bistro at The River in Rancho Mirage is set to open in February 2017. The restaurant was created by local industry veterans, the Keller family, who also own Lulu California Bistro. Acqua California Bistro will be located in the space once occupied by the Kellers' first restaurant, Acqua Pazza.
Whiskey One Eleven
Whiskey One Eleven is slated to open in February 2017. The new neighborhood bar in Palm Desert will serve craft whiskey, brew and food in the “largest indoor music venue in the Coachella Valley.”
Barbeau
Barbeau, a new chic upscale members-only bar and lounge, will open in Palm Desert’s El Paseo Shopping District TBD. Conceived by actor Beau Knapp, the venue will be a mix of Old Havana meets Young Hollywood. Knapp has teamed with NBA star Elton Brand and filmmaker Harry Knapp to open this new venue. The million dollar renovation is being done by local architect Chris McFadden and Chicago-based designers Cary and David Thomas.
Fox and Fiddle
Fox and Fiddle, a signature Canadian establishment focused on mixing the social experience of a British style pub with upscale cuisine, will open its first California location at The River in Rancho Mirage in February 2017.
