The free pass features 30 trails across the nine cities of Greater Palm Springs. Users can filter the hiking trails by experience level or location to find the trail best suited to their interests and abilities. HOTEL AND RESORT UPDATES

hotel ZOSO offers a refreshed experience with a new design that matches its playful personality. Updates to the 163-room downtown Palm Springs resort include the launch of new food and beverage menus at The Kitchen and pool, plus a soft interior refresh.  Under new ownership and managed by Columbia Hospitality, the property is known for its lively pool scene and is often touted among the best pool bars in the desert.

In May, a new boutique hotel will join the ranks of the desert's most eye-catching destination and dining spots. The Paloma Resort, a 66-room full-service resort hotel located adjacent to Palm Springs in Cathedral City, features an inviting open-to-the-public restaurant and lounge, spa services and event facilities for small to midsize corporate and social events.

The $15+ million resort-wide renovation at The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa (formerly The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa) is complete with the opening of a new 30’ double barrel waterslide and an outdoor kitchen in the reimagined space, The Backyard. Designed to host groups and locals for live entertainment and events, The Backyard features a stage and turfed terrace in addition to the new outdoor kitchen. The kitchen’s design, handpicked by the resort’s general manager, is equipped with a woodburning oven, outdoor smoker, and open-air BBQ.

The Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells completed a $9 million renovation transforming the 215-room resort into a contemporary version of a classic Mediterranean retreat. The 11-acre space features olive trees, fragrant citrus groves and flower gardens. The updated room designs aesthetically connect to the property’s classic hacienda architecture and surrounding landscape, with contemporary details such as tailored upholstered headboards, hand-forged metal accents and art reflecting the property’s grounds. The luxury resort’s award-winning WELL Spa offers nine treatment rooms with a new menu of desert-inspired specialty treatments. The resort’s signature Citrus & Palm restaurant and adjacent Tavern Bar offer new menus with contemporary Mediterranean-inspired dishes alongside an extensive wine list, hand-crafted cocktails, and craft beers.

 

SPA UPDATES

The first phase of The Oasis at Azure Palms Hot Springs and Day Spa Oasis in Desert Hot Springs is now open. More than one acre and adjacent to the largest mineral spring pool in Southern California, The Oasis features five flow-through mineral pools nestled in blooming desert foliage. Guests can experience a gas-fired sauna radiating healthy negative ions and journey the winding path of the reflexology walk.  Tucked amid the desert grasses, the water-filled stream will stimulate every pressure point.

The new Palmera Spa & Wellness, located inside Hotel Paseo, features seven intimate treatment rooms. Find your path to serenity with traditional massage treatments for individuals or couples. Guests can choose from results-oriented options including organic facials and therapeutic massages available with CBD and aromatherapy add-on enhancements.

 

NEW DINING OPTIONS

An all-new cocktail experience has arrived at the Saguaro Palm Springs: El Jefe Desert Cantina. Part speakeasy, part lounge, the new bar is just beyond the Saguaro’s lobby, where visitors enter through a hidden door tucked into a bookcase. Inside, the atmosphere and design are signature Saguaro. Anchored by a collection of agave-based spirits, the menu features nearly 20 unique drinks for fans of seasonal and classic mezcal and tequila drinks that may be paired with a rotating botanas-inspired menu celebrating Mexican street food.

The Thirsty Palms restaurant & bar brings the finest culinary food from the heart of Europe to the heart of Downtown Palm Springs. Under the expert direction of Executive Chef James Nellis, the menu delivers his passion for flavor and “his love for sharing his life’s growth transformed into food with a smile.”

In April 2022, the owners of Tac/Quila and FARM will open Front Porch located in front of FARM. Front Porch will offer casual bites to enjoy dining in or take away. They will also open Clandestino, referred to as “Tac/Quila’s moody sister,” in May 2022. Tucked away on a promenade in downtown Palm Springs, this new concept will include the fresh Mexican fare and craft cocktails of Tac/Quila. Clandestino diners will enjoy mountain views from its open-air patio.

Chad Gardner is the culinary force behind The Paloma's indoor/outdoor restaurant, Sol y Sombra, a tapas-style spot in the property's historic adobe. Reflecting the desert's agricultural roots, Sol y Sombra incorporates local ingredients throughout its food and drink menus. Dates, grapefruit, chilis in unique combinations highlight the menu. Guests may choose to dine in the casual lounge with leather club chairs or experience a more intimate vibe in the dining room with its high wood-beamed ceilings. The menu will also be available at the pool bar and fireside patio. Opens May 2022.

 

WHAT TO DO

Explore the themed pathways, enjoy the immersive and interactive photo opportunities at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens first ever Glow in the Park. The event features dozens of illuminated animal and nature-scape lanterns across the zoo. Glow in the Park runs nightly through April 29. Tickets available at www.livingdesert.org.

XPark is a city-owned skate park for skateboard and BMX enthusiasts is now in the City of La Quinta. The park features a concrete pump track and modern street course with a variety of stairs, rails, and ledges. It will have three distinct bowls that cover the full spectrum of skill levels.

Celebrate the Coachella Valley's Japanese pioneers who were among its early farmers by visiting the Japanese Memorial Garden at the Coachella Valley History Museum. Redesigned by renowned Japanese Landscape Architect, Keiji Uesugi, the original Japanese Memorial Garden was dedicated almost 40 years ago, in 1984.

Now open in the Atrium in Rancho Mirage, Dazzles Vintage Department Store is back. The eclectic vintage store is filled with baubles and wonderful midcentury finds, including a massive selection of costume jewelry.

Located on El Paseo Shopping Avenue, Kyle + Shahida is a luxury resort and loungewear brand created and designed by Kyle Richards Umansky, star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and business entrepreneur Shahida Clayton. The duo thoughtfully selected fabrics to meet high standards in effortless wearability and core sustainability.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS

Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival (April 15-17 and 22-24) is one of the most renowned music festivals in the world. Held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, the event unfolds over two consecutive weekends with headliners that include Billie Eilish, Harry Styles and Ye (Kanye West).

Thousands of country music fans are dusting off their cowboy boots and hats for the Stagecoach Country Music Festival (April 29 - May 1, 2022).  The event features three days of western fun, from dance halls and vintage shopping markets to the concerts themselves. Headlining artists for 2022 include Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood and Luke Combs.

White Party Palm Springs (April 29 – May 1) is the largest LGBTQ+ dance party in the World. Featuring DJs, live performances, pool parties and more, this event brings guests in for a weekend that cannot be matched. The event is held at the Hilton Palm Springs.

Reviving the storied past of the musical playground that made Palm Springs famous, the Oasis Music Festival (May 11-15) will re-create anew the celebrity, excitement and swank of Palm Springs through this world-class music festival featuring all genres of music taking place at more than 30 venues over five days.

Modernism Week (May 12-15) will offer special programming, including exclusive tours of the Modernism Week Showcase Home Casa Tierra --- a newly remodeled hillside estate in Palm Desert by design expert and Emmy-nominated host of Netflix’s Queer Eye Bobby Berk. In addition to tours of Casa Tierra, options for participants include various historical walking tours in Palm Springs, craft cocktail mixology classes, exciting dinner and live music experiences, and special “Top Ten” tour excursions highlighting Desert Modernist architecture in Palm Springs.

 

COMING SOON

Making waves in the surf scene, in 2022 Palm Springs will welcome the Palm Springs Surf Club. Designed for surfers, by surfers, the attraction will feature a wave pool and include private cabanas, a restaurant, a spa, and a gym.

Highlighting the best of the modernist era from the late 50s to the early 70s, Tracy Turco’s Modernism Museum will inspire the local community and visitors alike through the exploration and celebration of the history of all things midcentury modern.  The museum will serve the community as a meeting point and venue to gather, socialize and share their combined passion for the era, with events centered around modernist living in a truly creative environment.

The Coachella Valley Firebirds, the American Hockey League (AHL) team for the Seattle Kraken, will be playing the 2022-2023 AHL season at the new 10,000-seat Acrisure Arena. The facility will also host other sporting events and live music.

The Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza, opening late 2022, will include an 48,000-square-foot Agua Caliente Museum and an approximately 40,000-square-foot luxury Spa at Séc-he with a tranquil garden and an outdoor mineral pool. The Cultural Plaza will feature numerous outdoor activity spaces, including a Gathering Plaza.
