August 2024: Ok, I have been an avid runner for 30+ years now and am quite picky about the location of my runs, but doing my morning runs in Greater Palm Springs is an experience like no other. As the first rays of sunlight lit up the rugged tips of San Jacinto Mountains, the desert landscape comes alive with a serene beauty of ever-changing colors and stillness around you is awaken by birds singing their hymns to a new day. What’s truly special is that no matter where you run and where you look, you will always enjoy the beautiful views acknowledging your presence. A combination of perfect climate and scenic routes offers ideal running conditions. The desert heat takes a break in the early morning hours, making the temperatures just right for a comfortable run. The air is so crisp, clean, refreshing and still, that it’s simply impossible not to stop and listen to the silence of mother nature. Some of my favorite running routes are Palm Canyon Drive, Tahquitz Canyon Trail and Indian Canyons. So next time you are in Palm Springs or anywhere in Coachella Valley, get up early, lace up your running shoes, step outside, and let the desert dawn inspire you. Your mind, body and spirit will thank you.

June 2024: Palm Springs, a desert oasis known for its luxury, relaxation and rejuvenation, has a new crown jewel: the Sec-he Spa. Located in the heart of the city, this world-class spa offers an unparalleled experience that blends modern luxury with ancient healing traditions of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. The spa was recently voted as #1 in North America. This is a tremendous recognition and honor given the fact that the spa has been open for only a year.
According to Agua Caliente, the word Sec-he means “boiling water”. The spa draws its inspiration and healing waters from the sacred hot thermal mineral springs that had been created by the retreating mountains of ice of the last Ice Age on our planet. The water feels very silky to the touch, seems to have some texture and is also known to have every single mineral in it. From the moment you step into Sec-he Spa, you are hugged by the atmosphere of tranquility and luxury. The design of the spa beautifully blends modern features with elements that reflect the natural beauty, cultural heritage and history of Greater Palm Springs. The soothing sounds of water and the gentle aroma of essentials oils seamlessly set the stage for a journey of relaxation, renewal and unparalleled experiences. March 2024: Greater Palm Springs is renowned for its glamorous lifestyle, upscale resorts, and vibrant cultural scene. However, beyond the glitz and glamour lies a natural oasis waiting to be discovered - The Indian Canyons. Not too long ago, I went on a tour of these stunning canyons, located just a short drive from downtown Palm Springs. The canyons offer a captivating blend of Native American history, breathtaking landscapes, and outdoor adventure. The Indian Canyons include Andreas, Murray and Palm Canyons. While each canyon is very different, they at the same time offer a profound sense of history dated thousands of years and connection to the indigenous people who called this area home. As Spring is knocking on our door, it paints the canyons with a kaleidoscope of colors of wildflowers and fills the air with the spring bloom of wild grass, herbs and trees gently swaying in the wind against the rugged desert backdrop. The famous Palm Canyon is a jaw-dropping display of over 3000 California fan palms creates a feast for the eyes landscape that feels and looks almost surreal against the stunning rock formations and surrounding desert terrain shaped by eternity. And as you get closer to the middle of the canyon, where the palms congregate, you will hear the soothing sounds of flowing water from Andreas Creek. It is like a melodic soundtrack to accompany you along your journey through the canyon.
October 2023: Did you know the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway celebrated its remarkable 60th anniversary, a testament to its enduring charm? Located in Greater Palm Springs, it has captivated 22 million visitors, establishing itself as a signature attraction, and drawing adventure seekers worldwide. The world's largest rotating tram cars silently transport passengers nearly three miles through Chilo Canyon's rugged cliffs to Mount San Jacinto State Park, perched at 8,500 feet. The dynamic colors and raw beauty of these cliffs offer a glimpse into the Earth's history, untouched by human hands. The 14-minute tram ride provides breathtaking vistas, with valley views and towering mountain cliffs.
At the Tramway Station, you'll access pristine wilderness and crisp mountain air, with numerous trails winding through expansive pine forests. August 2023: THE VIEW FROM ABOVE
Not too long ago I was returning to Greater Palm Springs from a business trip and happened to be sitting in a window seat. As the plane approached Greater Palm Springs, I looked down and was mesmerized by the beautiful view of the valley unfolding down below. It was a visual feast for the eyes, and when I looked around I noticed that almost every passenger sitting by the window was preoccupied with doing the same: exploring the ever-changing scenery below. Hugged by the mountain ridges, the SoCal oasis looked alive and vibrant. The sparkling blue eyes of the countless swimming pools below, and green fields of golf courses guarded by the palm trees gracefully shaking their fluffy, green heads in the wind. Soaked in bright sunlight, the valley radiated abundant energy and life.
Many of us are very familiar with the Greater Palm Springs landscape with its iconic landforms which are a product of its unique geology. Greater Palm Springs preserves a fascinating story hundreds of millions of years in the making. Many natural forces, including water, ice, wind, and daily temperature changes, have worked hard to sculpt the stunning features we see today.
