Memorial Day Air Fair & Flower Drop

One of the most moving Memorial Day weekend events in Greater Palm Springs takes place on May 25 at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Starting at 1 p.m., the annual Flower Drop begins with a brief memorial service honoring local military heroes. Then, all eyes turn to the sky as a vintage warbird soars overhead, releasing red and white carnations in a breathtaking tribute to fallen soldiers.

Guests are invited to collect the flowers as keepsakes of remembrance. The day also includes live music, local food and drink vendors, family-friendly activities, and the chance to take an affordable ride in a historic warplane—making it a powerful and unforgettable way to honor the holiday.

Greater Palm Springs Weather Over The Long Weekend

Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage

With summer quickly approaching, staying hydrated throughout the day is crucial. During peak heat, it is best to avoid strenuous outdoor activities and stay indoors or find shaded areas.

Drink plenty of water, monitor children and pets for signs of dehydration, and wear light, breathable clothing. With the sun in full force, make sure to wear a hat and apply plenty of sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays—the higher the SPF, the better!

As we pay tribute to the courageous individuals who have served our country, Greater Palm Springs offers a diverse and vibrant setting this Memorial Day three-day weekend. While some events are designed to honor the lives and sacrifices of our military heroes, others celebrate the spirit of community with various activities suitable for all tastes.
