Greater Palm Springs has long been a destination for vacationers seeking rejuvenation and wellbeing. It's no surprise then that the restaurant scene offers plenty of options for visitors looking for healthy organic, vegetarian and vegan nourishment.

Chef Tanya’s Kitchen | Palm Springs

Chef Tanya’s Kitchen is a fresh vegan restaurant featuring beautiful dishes ranging from simple tacos to exotic seitan piccata. Seating is limited as the Kitchen offers its meals to go. Besides operating the Kitchen, Chef Tanya Petrovna offers catering services and cooking classes for cooks of all levels. Petrovna is also the founder of Native Foods Café (read more below), now a national chain.

Palm Greens Café | Palm Springs

In addition to an extensive menu of vegetarian and vegan café fare—much of it gluten-free, Palm Greens offers an elegant selection of wine and beer. But perhaps the best part of the menu is the list of smoothies, fresh juices and wellness shots designed to boost your health.

Nature’s Health Food and Café |  Palm Springs

Billing itself as Greater Palm Springs' 'original organic vegan and vegetarian cafe’, this combination of health food store and café has a large menu of vegetarian and vegan entrees including pasta, stir-frys and veggie burgers, along with coffee, espresso and smoothie options. There's also a full range of classic breakfast options including omelets, tofu burritos, pancakes and French toast, making Nature's Health Food and Café a great morning stop.

Luscious Lorraine’s Organic Juice & Eatery | Palm Desert

Chef Lorraine has a full menu of filling, whole food options. If you’re in the mood for something warm, try a “Bomb-Mi” (banh mi) rice bowl or the Little Green Curry Bowl. Amp up your superfood intake with items like the Macro Nutrient Bowl. Or, for something lighter, go with classics like avocado toast or bruschetta. Luscious Lorraine’s has a full range of espresso drinks in addition to fresh juices and nearly everything on the menu is organic.

The Natural Sisters Café | Joshua Tree

Owner Christy Lopez’ motto for the Natural Sisters Café is, “food made with kindness, focus, and love.” The menu ranges from veggie omelets to biscuits and gravy to fresh salads and vegetarian burgers. Many vegan and gluten-free options are available. Pair your main dish with a wheatgrass shot, smoothie or organic baked dessert.

Native Foods Café | Palm Springs

Native Foods has locations in multiple states, but this is the original birthplace of the healthy chain. Its founder, Tanya Petrovna still lives in the area and has a new restaurant (see above–Chef Tanya’s Kitchen). Native Foods excels in having a menu accessible to vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. They also serve more traditional items like Southern Fried Vegetarian ‘Chicken’ and Waffles, and Native Nachos.

Greater Palm Springs has a food scene that is continually developing and the healthy options continue to multiply. Whether you want to eat close to where you’re staying or make a road trip out of it, there’s plenty of options for healthy fare.
