In Palm Springs, dual-course Cimarron Golf Resort sports savings with a $49 Player's Card, offering one free round, a $20 rate at the championship Boulder Course and a Sunday Guest Day.
Across the choice, 36-holes at Desert Willow Golf Resort, golfers have the awesome, off-seasons options of either the Summer Elite Pass (unlimited golf on the Firecliff or Mountain View Courses and unlimited use of practice facility; cost is $799 for non-Palm Desert residents), or, a Summer V.I.P. Card (presenting lowest green fee available and a 7-day booing window; cost is $79 for non-residents).
Players seeking a weekday round (Monday – Thursday) at the Clive Clark-designed Eagle Falls at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino will find a sweet summer rate of just $39.
One of the valley's most underrated public plays, Heritage Palms in Indio sports a Super Twilight (starting at 3:00 p.m.) green fee of a mere $25.
More Super Twilight saving may be found at the opposite end of the valley, where Indian Canyons Golf Resort's superb South Course is enjoyed for a $40 rate, starting at 3:30 p.m.
For a great Stay & Play, guests at historic La Quinta Resort & Club can enjoy a complimentary round at any of the five publics across L.Q. and PGA WEST, per a night's resort stay. The deal sweetens with a complimentary replay round after completion of the first 18 (note that the Stadium Course is subject to surcharge).
One of the desert's truly premier deals is found at Marriott's Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Palm Desert, where a one-time, $99 purchase of the Summer Access Pass results in a $30 rate (with cart) through September, a week-long booking window and discounts for merchandise, instruction and food & beverage.
Mission Lakes CC in Desert Hot Springs needs to be discovered by those who have yet to explore one of Greater Palm Springs' sneaky-good tracks. Summer is a perfect time to do so, with a great rate of just $29/round.
Cool off "up the hill" with a short drive to the sister courses of Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon. Take a half work day, and play either the Legends or Champions Course for just $25 (starting at 3:00 p.m.) on Monday - Friday.
Ahhh . . . . the "Honor System." At the super-fun, 18-holes of par-3 play at Palm Royale CC in Palm Desert, the closed clubhouse finds guests dropping $10 in a slot ($5 for juniors) to enjoy the walking-only round.
Local favorite Tahquitz Creek feeds the tummy and saves the wallet all summer – come mid-June, rounds on the Legend Course tally only $29 before 10:00 a.m., while the Resort Course sports a $35 deal in the same time window. As for that belly bounty? Both deals include complimentary breakfast (ending at 10:00 a.m.), lunch (from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) and two free drinks.
Note that while auxiliary tee time purchase sites are subject to change and availability, there are some fine deals to be had. At the private S at Rancho Mirage, summer guests may find a 2-player package for only $70, while the same site offers an unlimited golf, $79 play package for two at either of the Westin Mission Hills' Gary Player or Pete Dye Courses.
Aptly known as a fun, fast and fair-priced round, Woodhaven CC in Palm Desert has a Summer Players' Card offer in which a one-time cost of $99 results in $20 rounds (with cart) through September. A 14-day booking window proves a fine add-on, as does a comped round with purchase, along with 10 percent off pro shop merchandise.
