(GREATER PALM SPRINGS, CA) Visit Greater Palm Springs (VGPS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Samuel L. Thompson III as the new Director of Indian Wells Tourism. In his new role, Thompson will collaborate closely with the City of Indian Wells and local tourism partners to enhance awareness and drive increased visitation to the city.
With a robust background in hospitality and tourism, Thompson brings invaluable expertise gained over his career. He embarked on his journey in the hospitality industry in 1998 with Marriott Intl., where he ascended through various departments, including Front Office Management, Catering, and Remote Sales.
In 2007, Thompson relocated to Indio, CA, to represent the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa. Throughout his tenure, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and sales skills, managing global accounts and solidifying relationships with clients worldwide.
In 2015, after gaining extensive experience in the hotel industry, Thompson decided to launch his own full-service event management agency, called Sync Meeting Management, with a few colleagues. The company, based in Palm Desert, CA, serviced the hospitality industry around the world. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the industry have set him apart as a leader in the field.
Thompson's commitment to excellence extends beyond his professional endeavors. He is deeply involved in community service, having worked with nonprofit organizations in the Coachella Valley, including The Well in the Desert, BRAAF (Building Resilient African American Families), and FHSN (Family Health Support Network), where he has served as a board member and elder, advocating for the homeless, youth, and disenfranchised.

Thompson studied Biology at Chabot College and is an ordained Deacon at First Baptist Church of Palm Springs. He resides in Palm Desert with his wife, Keisha, and has three children: Isaiah, 25; Kay, 21; and Kayla, 16.
