The Greater Palm Springs Tourism Foundation was created to extend resources that are currently not available in the region, such as:
Providing access to superlative education and training is integral to helping future tourism professionals develop a skillset for leadership and innovation. The Greater Palm Springs Tourism Foundation encourages students to take advantage of on-the-job training and mentorship programs while in high school. The Foundation awards college scholarships to students who have excelled in academics and community involvement. Scholarship funds are available for both community and four-year colleges.
The value of volunteering cannot be overstated. In fact, according to The Corporation for National & Community Service’s 2018 Volunteering in America report, more than 77 million adults volunteered through an organization last year. Local volunteers who offer their time and talent often interact with visitors and share their firsthand experience of our destination. The Tourism Foundation may grant funds for volunteer training for nonprofit organizations that promote local tourism and hospitality experiences and events.
To demonstrate the importance of tourism as it relates to the region’s economy and quality of life, the Tourism Foundation plans to create an archive documenting the positive results achieved by Foundation-supported projects. This may involve print narratives, photography, videography, digital and other types of media. This archive will provide an essential springboard for inspiration and innovation in future Foundation and tourism efforts.
To support the overall health and vitality of the Greater Palm Springs community, the Foundation may assist in raising awareness and aid for disaster relief initiatives on the local, regional, state and national levels.
