CONVENTION SALES

The Convention Sales team has continued to focus on client outreach and engagement in the month of May. This will continue to be a priority in maintaining strong relationships and partnerships during this challenging time.

Events such as ConferenceDirect Virtual Partner Fair and National Tourism Week, as well as Zoom "coffee break chats" with clients have been part of the team's efforts to stay connected with meeting professionals. 

May continued to show the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on group business. Continued restrictions on group gatherings has limited the Convention Sales team's ability to generate and confirm group business for the destination. 

Compared to 2019, definite room nights booked are down for the month of May by 74% and down 62% YTD. Leads are down 83% for the month of May and 24% YTD.

There have been 64 bookings for a total of 57,791 room nights that have canceled as a result of COVID-19 and 88 lost leads totaling 35,528 room nights.
